The senate has screened James Ocholi, a legal practitioner from Kogi
state.
During his presentation, Ocholi promised to be honest and always tell
the president the truth on any issue. He promised to lead by example any
ministry he is assigned to.
On prison congestion, he said 69% of inmates in Nigerian prisons are
awaiting trial and this has caused a major problem in the prison system.
He said if made Minister of Justice, he will
construct new sets of prisons so they can serve as corrective centers to
prisoners. He promised to give issues of Human rights great
consideration if he is a Minister of Justice.
He advocated for the merging of anti-corruption agencies such as EFCC and ICPC.
He said the laws against corruption in Nigeria are fair enough but however the implementation of these laws is greatly required.
He was asked to take a bow and go.
